Low Back Pain
Low back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek care, with nearly 9 out of 10 adults experiencing it at some point in their lives. While the pain can be frustrating and limiting, research shows that only a small percentage of cases are caused by serious conditions. For most people, back pain is due to the muscles, ligaments, and joints being asked to do more than they’re currently prepared for — something that can be improved with the right plan.
What the Research Says
Most low back pain is not dangerous, and imaging findings often don’t match symptoms. Current clinical guidelines recommend avoiding unnecessary imaging, using manual therapy for short-term relief, and focusing on exercise and strength training as the most effective long-term solutions (Oliveira et al., Spine, 2018).
