About Timber and Iron Physical Therapy

Helping athletes and active adults in Happy Valley and Clackamas move stronger, recover faster, and live without limits.

Our Story

At Timber and Iron Physical Therapy, we believe that physical therapy should do more than just get you out of pain — it should help you build strength, resilience, and confidence for the long run.

Founded by Dr. Ryan Eckert, PT, DPT, Timber and Iron Physical Therapy was created to provide one-on-one, patient-focused care that blends clinical expertise with a performance mindset. Instead of cookie-cutter programs or crowded clinics, every session is tailored to your goals, whether that’s returning to your sport, keeping up with your kids, or simply moving without pain.

The name Timber and Iron reflects resilience, strength, and balance. Timber represents flexibility and growth, while Iron represents durability and strength. Together, they symbolize the way we guide patients through challenges—helping you rebuild, adapt, and thrive.

Meet Ryan

Hi, I’m Ryan Eckert, PT, DPT.

For the past six years, I’ve been helping patients across the Portland metro area get back to the activities they love. I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of California, San Francisco and San Francisco State University, and I bring both clinical expertise and an athletic background to every treatment session.

As a former collegiate track and field thrower at UC San Diego, I know firsthand the importance of movement, strength, and recovery. That experience shaped my passion for helping people stay active—whether you’re recovering from an injury, training for competition, or just wanting to move with less pain.

My treatment approach blends:

  • Strength & conditioning principles to build resilience and long-term strength

  • Skilled manual therapy to reduce pain and restore mobility

  • A psychologically informed approach to keep you motivated, confident, and on track

I’m also certified in myofascial decompression (cupping) and have advanced training through the Institute of Clinical Excellence in sports, orthopedics, and working with fitness athletes. My goal is simple: to help you leave each session stronger, more confident, and closer to your goals than when you walked in.
